Do you hear a 'ringing' sound in your ears? Does it keep you up at night? Have you had Tinnitus for many years and can't cope?

There are many ways in which we can help

Tinnitus (Tin-ee-tuss) is defined as a ringing or buzzing in the ears, however hissing, roaring, whistling, ringing, whooshing, clicking and chirping are just some of the noises that have been described. People of any gender, age, background, or profession can suffer from the condition and it's more common than you may think with 10%-15% of adults experiencing the condition. 15% of teenagers have Tinnitus permanently and 60% of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan come home with hearing loss and tinnitus.

One of our Audiologists on the team, Penny Stannard (who is now considered a Tinnitus specialist in her field), can offer support and helpful ways in which to cope with Tinnitus, ensuring you can still live your life to the full. We often see clients that are struggling to cope with their Tinnitus, including struggling with sleep, not being able to hear conversations, struggling to focus at work or on tasks. Penny has helped a wide range of people with Tinnitus to find ways to cope and eventually learn to live with their 'sounds'. Although sadly, no cure has been discovered, we have many methods in which we can help. Penny has helped thousands of clients to continue to lead a fulfilled and happy life by offering tailor made therapy sessions.

These therapy sessions last 60 minutes each and you can have as many or as few as you feel you need. During your sessions, Penny will discuss your history (when the Tinnitus started) and help you deal with any trauma or triggers. As Penny in trained in hearing therapy and is a Tinnitus specialist, many NHS officials have sought her expertise and she currently speaks at many Tinnitus conventions/ groups. She offers insight on how tinnitus works and believes, the more you understand the better equipped you are to deal with it.

Whether your Tinnitus is sudden or has been gradually getting worse over the years, Penny welcomes every client and gives them the tools to move forward in a positive way. This is not something that you need to face alone and she can help you see that with the right support and coping mechanisms, life can be a more manageable and enjoyable place.
